Preparing Your Hair

The first step in using a waver tool is that you will want to start with clean, dry hair. Without hair that is perfectly dry, you will not be able to hold the shape you are going for. Lather, rinse, and repeat with your favorite shampoo, and make sure to apply Fresh Start Protective Prep and Primer - 1.75 oz to prime and detangle your hair without weighing it down. This product creates an even canvas for your hair and aids against stretching and breaking. Bright Looks for Fall

Believe it or not, beach waves and mermaid waves are two perfect ways to get wavy hair for fall, and they do not require an actual beach at all! These flattering hairstyles are perfect for almost all hair lengths and give your hair softness, and sensual feel that you can dress up or down. Beach waves look more tousled and less “put together,” while mermaid waves have a more predictable S-wave. To create beach waves after prepping your hair, place a section that is one to two inches into the waver, and make sure to leave an inch or two out at the ends. Twist the iron away from your face, and hold at the crown of your head for three to four seconds before opening the clamp and releasing the hair. Repeat this technique throughout your hair.

To create mermaid waves,

1. Section your hair before you apply the heat.
2. Clamp each section of hair between the barrels, and where the lowest barrel waved is where you will start the next wave as you work your way down.
3. Time equals intensity, so if you want a more intense wave, hold the barrels down on your hair longer.
4. Additionally, the smaller the section you curl at a time, the more intense the wave. It is fun to do larger sections of hair, though, and this cuts your curling time. Start the waves around your eyes for a more modern look and avoid too much crimp. You can also alternate the look to make it look even more carefree.
